Sarfaranga Cold Desert is one of Baltistan's most extraordinary natural attractions and one of the highest cold deserts in the world. Located in Shigar District, just a short drive from Skardu, the desert is famous for its vast golden sand dunes set against the dramatic backdrop of the Karakoram Mountains, creating a landscape unlike anywhere else in Pakistan.
The desert has become a major adventure tourism destination thanks to the annual Sarfaranga Desert Rally, where top off-road drivers compete across challenging desert terrain.
